about
Bill Basie made it famous and B# fittingly ends the CD with One O'Clock Jump and another round of ‘meet the band’ solos. Our heroes are very faithful to the Basie tradition of ‘riff and response’ with strong sax work, building tension and an explosive finish. Here's a textbook example of how to make an overworked standard fresh again.

A crisp take on old, scratchy Basie classics. Can't say I'm in love with the vocals, but instrumental tracks are killer.
Lots of good stuff to DJ from here. Jose Tello

I'm digging the covers. Some of these charts are harder to pull off with a small group (i.e. The Jeep is Jumpin'.) Overall it's a fun album with popular songs. The version of Castle Rock especially stands out. Jose Tello
