Dazzling solos and a reassuring nod to arranging authenticity mark the band’s fine outing on Let’s Dance, the tune Benny Goodman used to open his dance dates every night. Peter Hannah takes the BG role on clarinet and sounds just fine but it’s Tim Wilson who truly impresses with his freewheeling alto solo, recalling the tone of the much underrated ‘30s star Willie Smith. It’s loosely based on a classical theme Invitation To The Dance.
